About GamblingHolland.nl

GamblingHolland.nl is an independent platform covering gambling in the Netherlands. We track what the Kansspelautoriteit does, which operators hold a licence, how the rules change, and what any of it means for the people actually playing. We are not an operator and we do not sell gambling.

What we cover

Everything on this site is written for the Dutch market. Not a translated overview of gambling in general, but the operators that hold a KSA licence, the law as it applies here, and the tax and player-protection rules that actually affect your account balance.

How we work

Gambling content is full of pages that exist only to rank. We try to be the opposite of that, and the way we work is deliberately boring:

• Primary sources first. Figures come from the Kansspelautoriteit, the Belastingdienst, Nederlandse Loterij or the operator's own terms, and we link to them so you can check.
• Licensed operators only. We do not link to sites without a Dutch licence, whatever the commission on offer.
• Dated and reviewed. Every page carries the date it was last checked. Rules here change several times a year, so an undated page is worth little.
• Criticism stays in. If an operator is fined, slow to pay out or weak on duty of care, that goes on their review page whether or not we have a commercial relationship.

How we pay for this

Some links on this site are commercial. If you sign up with an operator through one of them, we may receive a fee at no cost to you. That funding pays for the research and writing, and it does not buy a better review, a higher position or a softer verdict. Our affiliate disclosure sets out exactly how this works.

GamblingHolland.nl has been publishing since 2011 and is published from Eindhoven by Tonnaer Media B.V., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 65989295. The site is written and edited by Gamby, who has followed the Dutch gambling market since 2011.

We are not owned by an operator, a gambling group or an affiliate network, and no operator has editorial influence over what appears here.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and rules shift under our feet. If you spot an error, an outdated figure or a broken link, tell us at business@gamblingholland.nl or through the contact form. We check every report, correct what needs correcting, and note the date of the change on the page.

Meet Gamby

The lion in the dinner jacket is Gamby, and he has been quietly taking over this site. He turns up at the roulette table, on the terraces at a Dutch football ground, on the sofa with a phone in his paw, and once, memorably, on his own doorstep holding a letter from the Belastingdienst.

A lion because it is on the Dutch coat of arms. The dinner jacket because he takes the subject seriously. The headphones because he spends most of his time listening: to regulators, to operators, and to readers who write in about something that happened to them.

What Gamby is for

Dutch gambling regulation is a subject of exit plans, channelisation rates and article numbers. Necessary, and not exactly inviting. Gamby is there to make a page about the gambling tax feel like something you might actually read to the end.

He is a host, not an advisor. Gamby will not tell you where to play, will not recommend an operator and will not appear next to a sign-up button. He shows up where something is being explained, and he stays away from anything commercial. That line is deliberate.

And the one thing he takes seriously

Gamby plays for fun and stops when it stops being fun. He knows what he is willing to lose before he sits down, he checks the licence before he deposits, and he is 18. If the character has a single point beyond making the site friendlier, it is that one.
