Dutch has a new charity lotteries. On July 6, 2020, the first draw will take place of Care-a-Lot, a lottery for charities in the field of health.
Care-a-Lot is the health lottery of the Netherlands. Care-a-Lot is the health lottery of the Netherlands. Care-a-Lot calls itself the health lottery of the Netherlands and mainly wants to generate income for “progressive goals and organizations within health care”. In this way, Care-a-Lot wants to contribute to a healthier Netherlands.
At least 40 percent of the proceeds from lottery tickets go to charity. As a participant, you choose which organization you support.
The lottery has two “launching partners”: the ALS Foundation and the Nutrition Live Foundation.
The ALS Foundation fights against the deadly muscle disease ALS and is best known for the Ice Bucket Challenge, an action in which you had to pour a bucket of ice water over your head.
The Nutrition Life Foundation is much less known. Together with scientists and doctors, this foundation develops lifestyle programs for people with a chronic condition such as Rheumatism, MS, cancer and Alzheimer’s.
The organization behind Care-a-Lot, Fairshare Nederland (also initiator of Lot of Happiness), wants to add more charities as soon as possible.
Grand prize care a lot
Care-a-Lot organizes 12 draws per year, each on the first Monday of the month. A ticket costs € 5 and can only be purchased online, as part of a subscription.
Incidentally, it is not the case that Care-a-Lot pays out a million every month. In the beginning there are so few participants that the lottery would quickly go bankrupt in that case, like the Zorgloterij did in 2002. In that scenario, there is little left for charities, after all, what it is all about.
For the time being, the Care-a-Lot prize package only consists of cash prizes, ranging from € 2.50 to a main prize of € 1,000,000. If you win a prize, it will be automatically transferred to your bank account.
The exact package varies per draw and is adapted to the number of participants, so the chance of winning is always about 1 in 5.
