A former bank employee has been banned by the Bank Disciplinary Commission after opening several bank accounts in the past 2.5 years. Not much is known about the employee, but he did have 68 credit cards for online gambling. The name of the bank that gave the credit cards is not known. However, it says that the financial damage caused by the bank employee’s practices is about 850.000 euros.
Maximum withdrawal limits
The employee ordered credit card after credit card and no one stopped him. He raised the withdrawal limits of the card to the maximum level each time and made sure that colleagues could not see what was happening. He pumped the money around between the accounts, which meant that the control systems did not realize that the system was being misused. The person was dismissed immediately when he made himself known at the management.
Bank system easy to
The Bank Disciplinary Commission states that the actions of the former bank employee are very wrong. Apparently, the banking systems and controls were easy to manipulate. The disciplinary committee writes that this is absolutely no excuse for what the employee did. However, it does take into account the guilt-conscious attitude of the employee when giving the punishment. According to the committee, the person himself took steps to get rid of his addiction. He also stated that he never wanted to work for a bank again.
