State-owned gambling company Holland Casino will not pay a dividend for last year due to the corona crisis. The company is adding the entire profit of 67.5 million euros to its equity. To be able to pay all the bills, the company has appealed to NOW. That is the scheme whereby the government reimburses up to 90 percent of the wage costs of entrepreneurs who have lost sales due to the corona crisis.
According to the Minister of Finance – responsible for Holland Casino on behalf of the government – the setback had already been calculated in. Normally the entire profit is not distributed as dividend anyway. It is therefore not known exactly how much the Dutch government loses.
This is a calculated setback for Wopke Hoekstra, as Minister of Finance the only shareholder of the company.
How much money the government would have received from Holland Casino is unknown. That had not yet been determined, says a spokesman for the company.
