Holland Casino has plunged into the red for tens of millions of euros due to the outbreak of the corona virus. All Holland Casino locations were closed between 13 March and 1 July 2020. From that moment on, more than 4,000 employees were at home. Turnover decreased by more than 55% as a result.
Emergency measure Holland Casino
Holland Casino has made use of the Emergency Measure Bridging Employment (NOW). The employers who have run into problems due to the corona crisis will then be paid up to 90 percent of the wage costs.
The doors of the 14 locations of Holland Casino have been open again since 1 July. The company can currently receive about 30 percent of the regular number of guests, because a distance of 1.5 meters must be kept and a visit must be booked. It is still uncertain what the long-term consequences will be for the branches and / or staff. Perhaps this will become more clear by the end of 2020.
Turnover compared to last year
In the past six months, more than 145 million euros in turnover was put in the books, against almost 353 million euros last year. The result after deduction of corporate tax came to a minus of EUR 28.3 million. Last year, a profit of EUR 32 million was recorded in the same period.
