Toto is a familiar name in the Netherlands, but there’s a chance it will disappear. The Dutch Gambling Law is going to change. Director Jos Zuidwijk of branch association NSO says that the tax burden will increase more than six times. As a result, sports gambling might become loss-making.
“No more profits for Toto”
Nowadays you can buy a Toto ticket in several cigar stores or supermarkets. However, if the Dutch Gambling Law is really going to change, the Toto organization will not have profits anymore. It will become loss-making, director Niels Nonhot told the press.
Because of the new law only losses and a high tax burden will be left, which is going to be the deathblow for more than 1500 stores who sell Lottery tickets. Currently Toto is an important source of income for many shopkeepers, so problems might be on the horizon.
