The Dutch Gambling Authority (Ksa) and the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding. With such a cooperation agreement, the Ksa and the UKGC can better support each other in their supervisory tasks. This includes the exchange of general information, for example on best practices. More specific information can also be shared, for example in the context of enforcement and licensing. The document mentions common goals, such as the fight against crime, player protection and the prevention of gambling addiction.
Cooperation is important
In the past, the KSA has concluded similar agreements with the regulators of France, Malta, Sweden and Belgium. Such a Memorandum of Understanding forms a good basis for sharing knowledge, cooperation and a smooth exchange of information. It also sends a clear signal to gambling providers that they are working together at an international level. Online games of chance move across borders. Both regulators were already working together on an informal basis. An addendum to the agreement regulates the specific situation in the field of data protection that has arisen now that the United Kingdom has left the European Union.
