Mr Vijlbrief, State Secretary of Finance, has reappointed Niels Onkenhout as the CEO of the Dutch Lottery. He got his recommendations from the Supervisory Board of the Dutch Lottery. Onkenhout will start in his new position on September 1, 2020. At the same time Arjan Blok will be reappointed as the CFO on November 1, 2020.
Onkenhout and Blok are members of the board of the Dutch Lottery and will continue to do so for the next four years. Niels Onkenhout has a lot of managing experience. He has successfully led the merger between the Dutch Lottery and The Lotto. A strong, new organization emerged because of his hard work. What’s more: under his leadership the Dutch Lottery has improved results and better revenues. The Dutch Lottery is the largest gambling provider in the Netherlands with a turnover of 1.3 billion euros!
A strong and social organization
In a comment, Onkenhout said that he is looking forward to the next few years. As the new face of the Dutch Lottery, he wants to build a strong and social organization. In the coming years, the CEO will focus on further strengthening the market position of the Dutch Lottery. The organization must become gain a strong position in the ever growing online lottery market.
Double role for the Dutch Lottery
The Dutch Lottery does not only focus on itself. It also strives to have an impact on society. The primary task of this lottery is to provides excellent lottery games, while also paying attention to responsible gambling. It’s an important task and the new CEO is very proud of the achievements of the lottery in the last few years.
Statement from Arjan Blok
Arjan Blok was appointed CFO of the Dutch Lottery after the merger of The Dutch Lottery and The Lotto in 2016. He issued a statement in which he said the following:
‘Of all the lotteries in the Netherlands, the Dutch Lottery pays out the most prize money to its players. Our money is almost entirely donated to Dutch sports via NOC*NSF, to Dutch society and to eighteen charities in the field of health, exercise and welfare via the Ministry of Finance. In 2019 more than 173 million euros has been donated.’
Looking forward to the years to come
Under the leadership of Arjan Blok, the Dutch Lottery is a financially healthy organization that paid out more than 894 million euros in prize money to its players in 2019. Blok stated that as the CFO of the Dutch Lottery he has the pleasure and responsibility to ensure that the donations continue. Of course he works together with a professional team to make this possible. He’s looking forward to achieve this in the years to come.
