The Kansspelautoriteit sent a letter to 55 affiliate websites about the rules that apply to gambling advertising. With the letter, the Ksa drew the attention of the affiliate websites to the fact that they may only advertise for gambling companies with a licence to offer games of chance in the Netherlands.
Legal rules for gambling in the Netherlands
If there is no such licence, then not only the illegal provider, but also the affiliate website is in violation of the law. In that case, the Ksa can take enforcement action, for example with a fine. If there is a licence, advertising is permitted. However, rules apply. For example, advertising may not be aimed at minors and young adults under 24 years of age.

Advertising must also be recognisable as such and it must be clear on behalf of which gambling company the advertising is made. See our website for a full overview of the advertising rules (links to another website).
Affiliate websites can make an important contribution to better compliance with the advertising rules by gambling companies. That is why the Ksa is addressing these websites on their social responsibility.
