What Dutch slots are
Dutch slots are the online slot machines you can legally play at operators holding a licence from the Kansspelautoriteit. Mechanically they are the same games sold worldwide: reels, symbols, paylines or ways-to-win, with free spins, multipliers and scatter features layered on top.
What sets them apart is what has been stripped out. Two features that dominate slots in most of Europe are banned here, and several others come with conditions. If you have played at a site outside the Dutch market, the difference is noticeable within a minute.

The two features you will not find
Autoplay
Every spin needs a separate press of the button. There is no setting that runs 50 spins while you watch, and holding down the spacebar to trigger spins counts as autoplay too. The rule comes from article 3.8 of the Remote Gambling Regulation: a player must be able to make an informed decision for each individual game. The KSA has enforced it, including a penalty order against an operator that offered pre-purchased spins.
Bonus buy
Paying 100 times your stake to jump straight into the free spins round does not exist here either. The KSA treats bonus buy as a form of autoplay, because you commit to several games at once and cannot step out halfway. That reasoning surprises people, but it follows the same article: one decision, one game.

Types of slots

RTP and volatility, and what they actually tell you
Return to player is the share of all stakes a slot pays back across millions of spins, usually 92% to 97%. Licensed operators must state it in the game rules, so you can check before you play rather than guess. What it does not tell you is anything about your session: a 96% slot can empty a balance in ten minutes and stay perfectly within its maths.
Volatility matters more for how a session feels. Low volatility pays small amounts often; high volatility pays rarely and larger, which means longer dry spells and a bankroll that needs to survive them. There is no system that beats a slot
Every spin is produced independently by a certified random number generator.
