The Gambling Authority (Ksa) has intervened against a gambling provider that used untargeted advertising in a TV game show. Sponsorship of television programs is still allowed until July 1, 2024, but under strict conditions.

Sponsorship of television programs is allowed until July 1, 2024, as existing sponsorship contracts are taken into account when the ban takes effect. Sports sponsorship is valid until July 1, 2025.
Advertising during the program does not meet this requirement. Sponsorship is a neutral display of a provider's logo or name. In related television programs sponsored by legitimate providers, the name of the provider is combined with game elements involving slot machines. As far as Ksa is concerned, this is not a neutral expression.
Game elements have been adjusted following discussions with providers and relevant TV programs.
The ban on untargeted advertising will take effect on July 1, 2023. The recruitment and advertising activities of gaming providers must not involve minors, young people and other vulnerable groups.
