In October 2019, the life of a Belgian gambler changed forever. This very lucky person won 2.2 million euros at Casino 777. At least, he thought so. Believe it or not, but the system crashed just a few seconds after his big win in the game Mega Fortune Touch. What happened?
For just a few seconds the Belgian gambler thought he was a rich man. Then something happened: the text ‘the round was interrupted’ appeared on the screen. After an hour the system lifted and the problem was solved. However, only 56 euros and 25 cents remained. The millions had vanished just as quickly as they were won. The Belgian player simply does not accept this strange situation and is now fighting for his money.
When the third arrow of the Roulette game also came to a halt on the right line, B.V. (we don’t know the real name of this player) from Sint-Truiden went through the roof. He was a millionaire in one fell swoop. Obviously the adrenaline rushed through his body. He was still smart enough to take a screenshot though. This action might prove him right in his case against the casino of Spa. The website Casino777 is a part of it.
B.V. decided to hire a lawyer after his millions disappeared digitally. Lawyer Bert Vanmechelen has issued a statement: ‘The game in question, Mega Fortune, has already made several players rich. Because of all the millions won, it’s the only online video slot in the Guinness Book of Records.’
Mega Fortune is one of the most popular games of Casino 777. Not a big surprise, because multiple players have become rich of it. The Belgian player is not yet that lucky, although he felt on top of the world for a few minutes. A 20 year old player from Norway was lucky enough to win 11.7 million euros in 2011, without a system that crashed!
The fact that millions were paid out earlier makes the story of a technical failure in the case of the unfortunate Limburger plausible. Vanmechelen claims he does not want to slander the casino. The lawyer of the other party admitted the malfunction. What the lawyer does want to know is what this means for his client. It’s assumed that the servers of the casino have captured everything.
Vanmechelen knows that games are also monitored by the Belgian Gaming Commission. These kinds of complaints, losing millions because of a technical failure, are obviously not very common. The commission responded that it does not have concrete figures about these situations. If an infringement of the law on games of chance is established, the operator can be warned, suspended or even revoke of its license.
The Committee does not have the power to intervene in a civil case though, such as requiring a payment. That’s up to the court. For the time being, there is no court case. B.V. and his attorney are trying to find a solution with the casino itself. The other party’s lawyer, said that an investigation has now begun. With a bit of luck, B.V might get his money after all. Time will tell!
